No other course has been designed by an Oscar and Award winning make-up designer or had as much input by fellow make-up artists as this one.

You will be taught, not just what Christine feels is necessary but what the industry demands

Here are just some of the reasons why this course will be the best around.

We have created the ultimate course that reflects Christine Blundell's philosophy of providing you with the broadest of educations and the required skills with which to start out on your new career.

After extensive research, collating information from the advanced graduates, tutors and employers alike, we feel that we have come up with an excellent blend of learning and observation.

Christine’s BAFTA interviewChristine’s BAFTA interview

Born in October 1961, Chris first became involved in hair and make-up in the Punk era of the late 70’s, working with various Punk bands and in a salon in the Kensington Market, an eclectic mix of peoples and influences which was to have a lasting effect on her later career. She followed her time in the Kensington salon with a, somewhat pioneering, trip to Cape Town to promote hair extensions, and her foundation as a brilliant hair stylist was set.

Concentrating mainly on high-end fashion, Chris opened her own salon, which was a huge success and she ran it for four years, finally selling it to enable her to follow her true calling – a career in film and television.

She invested the proceeds of the sale in an intensive three-month make-up course, and coupled with her extensive experience in hair styling, she was never to look back.

Christine’s first job was in the theatre: she worked on prosthetics for the Phantom of the Opera at Her Majesty’s Theatre, Haymarket, now one of the longest running musicals of all time. But her time at the theatre was cut short when a phone call took her off to the Isle of Man to assist in the mammoth (and rather unglamorous!) task of cutting hundreds of ‘short back and sides’ for an army of T.V. extras! This seemingly inauspicious interruption was a blessing in disguise (as such jobs so often are in this industry).

Chris’s path crossed with the LWT make-up team who were so impressed with her technical ability, hard-work and unwavering dedication, that they continued to employ her on future television productions. Working with such a fantastic team and on a wide range of television productions, from sketch shows to T.V. films, her career blossomed and she soon gained a reputation to match her wealth of experience.

Another phone call, this time to request Chris’s help on Mike Leigh's latest film, Life is Sweet, directed her career into the film industry and marked the start of a long and successful professional relationship with Mike Leigh, which resulted in two BAFTA nominations: Topsy Turvy, which Chris won, and Vera Drake.

Chris also won an Academy Award (Oscar) for her design work on Topsy Turvy and a Woman in Film Achievement Award, as well as a Fellowship of Hairdressing for work on The Full Monty, and a third BAFTA nomination for Finding Neverland.

But beyond the glamour of Hollywood and the award ceremonies, Chris is a dedicated artist, committed to the furtherance of her profession. It was, therefore, a logical demonstration of her passion for Christine to start her own school, and in 2006 she founded the Christine Blundell Make-Up Academy. Since then, the CB*MA has gone from strength to strength, rapidly developing an excellent reputation for producing skilled young professionals, mirroring that of its founder.

Around her teaching at the Academy, Chris maintains an active working role in the film industry. Taking on an average of three films per year, Chris distributes her time between big budget features and low budget independent films. She is currently working on About Time, directed by Richard Curtis. Chris is also an active jury member for BAFTA.
