Theatre Week

It’s theatre week, which can only mean one thing – it’s time to start smelling the greasepaint all over again! (no, I don’t really get that either...) Anyway, Theatre week is a chance for the students to get to practice some of the much more outlandish aspects of life as a make-up artist, as they are asked to create characters suitable for the stage. So, this means a lot of exaggerated features, and the art of dramatically aging and changing a person so extremely that they look natural under the stage lights. Theatre week is all about how the person looks from a distance, and about making sure the look carries all the way to the back of a theatre and to the audience. The students have also been creating Geisha and Kabuki make up looks, which again need to be suitable for the stage and for the audience to see. Then at the end of the week, it was time to let their imagination run wild, and to see if they could create some famous theatre characters...
